The education committee is the umbrella committee for education policy and implementation. This committee’s meetings will incorporate meetings of the Information Studies GSC, and is the body through which the doctoral, master’s (including MSISP), and undergraduate studies committees report to the whole faculty with recommendations and items for wider discussion. Meets monthly during terms from 1-3 pm, normally on a Friday.

This committee handles recruitment and evaluation of doctoral applicants for admission, organizes the annual doctoral student review cycle, coordinates nominations of doctoral students to prestigious University and external awards, and works with the Director of the Doctoral Program on all matters related to the doctoral program. This committee will lead the effort to recruit, screen applicants, interview, and make recommendations for hiring in the any area that adds to the intellectual climate of the iSchool. This position will be a 50% associate dean appointment with a four-year renewable term, and 50% a tenured full professor appointment that will become 100% when the associate dean role ends. All search committees will consult with Assistant Dean for DEI Edgar Gómez-Cruz throughout the search process.

This committee will lead the effort to recruit, screen applicants, interview, and make recommendations for hiring in all areas of need for teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs. The position will be open through summer 2023, and applications will be considered on a rolling basis. When the search committee identifies promising candidates, 1-2 faculty members with appropriate expertise will be invited to help the committee evaluate the applicant(s) for possible recommendation to the EBC and the Dean. All search committees will consult with Assistant Dean for DEI Edgar Gómez-Cruz throughout the search process.

This working group’s remit is to examine space use at the School of Information and make recommendations particularly in the areas of:
Uses and priorities for former IT suite on the 5th floor of iSchool-Guadalupe, and other group/shared spaces on the 5th floor. This should include a broader discussion of faculty lab spaces (including room for growth related to hiring) and doctoral student spaces.
Additional modifications/adjustments for iSchool-West Mall once the basic renovations are completed and the site is open for use.
