COURSE NOTES

"In this class, I hope to give students a sense of current threads in game studies as well as the historical contexts for the field. We will explore how scholars in game studies situate and analyze games as design objects, as artifacts of culture, and as interactive works of art. By exposing students to a variety of epistemological approaches in game studies such as platform studies, interaction design, and close reading, I hope to give them the building blocks to be able to think critically about games.
