INF 335C Information in Cyberspace
DESCRIPTION
An overview of the history and social impact of Internet, Web, and other network technologies. Students will learn methods and tools of media creation with an emphasis on technological self-sufficiency.
COURSE NOTES
The course is updated every semester, so content and assignments listed below or in the old syllabus are bound to change. In this course students will learn: ââ¬Â¢ about technical applications that make the Internet possible; ââ¬Â¢ about political, financial, and social implications of creating content on the Internet; ââ¬Â¢ how to find, evaluate, and cite Information resources on the Internet; ââ¬Â¢ how to protect content and resources from malicious attacks; ââ¬Â¢ how to create content (such as Web pages) on the Internet. Students will enact the following learning techniques: ââ¬Â¢ reading about history and current news related to information technology; ââ¬Â¢ discussing history and current news related to information technology; ââ¬Â¢ completing hands-on projects to practice presenting and assessing information in a variety of contexts. Students will develop an online portfolio that is both a formative and summative evaluation of their learning over the course of the semester.
