24 JULY 2002 MEETING MINUTES

Present: Molly Wheeler, Ben Stone, Trish Nugent, Addy Sonder, Traci Drummond, Dixie Owen and Ron Drees

Meeting called to order by Molly Wheeler, President, at 5:25pm.

I. Archives Week

A. Fundraising
- Ron suggested that we approach airlines and hotels to see if any would give us discounts.
- Mugs: Molly will send a notice to the listservs advertising the mugs. If any members of the group thinks of a listerv that we could send this message to please inform Molly. It was decided that Dixie would buy some bubble wrap for shipping and will be reimbursed.
- It was decided that we need to make phone calls to potential donors. Molly will post her talking points to the listserv for our reference.
  - Trish will contact Bookpeople and Half Price Books
  - Traci will contact GSD&M and Lady Bird Johnson's foundation
  - Molly will contact Hoovers
  - Addy will contact the T.R.U.E foundation
  - Ben will contact the American Airlines Museum
B. Speakers
- It was decided that we should make some more preliminary contacts with Andras Reidlmayer.
- Addy will contact the ACLU to see if they can suggest any potential speakers.
C. Publicity
- Addy has a friend who is a graphic designer willing to volunteer her services to help us create our publicity materials. The group decided to take her up on the offer.
D. Giveaways
- Everyone is again encouraged to look at the office supply section of branders.com and see what we think. Also, we should be thinking of potential logos that we could have on the giveaways.
E. Clinic
- Traci will be in touch with the staff that will be working at the AHC the day of the clinic. Traci will also look into whether we can sell mugs the day of the clinic.
- Dixie suggested that we print out some "photos after a flood" websites to hand out at the clinic.
- Traci and Dixie will get the pamphlets soon.

II. Other Matters

The group decided that we need to establish a dialogue on the SAA board listserv. We should post our progress between meetings.
Any suggestions or comments on the website are welcomed by Addy. She is trying to correct some of the size problems.
