Dixie Owen
Meeting called to order by Molly Wheeler, President, at 5:27pm.
I. Archives Week
- A. Speakers
- Ben contacted the Texas Freedom of Information Foundation. They are
on vacation but will be in touch later in the summer.
- Addy reported that the International Council on Archives has not responded
to her inquiries, but that the War Crimes Research Office does has staff
members who travel to give presentations.
- Trish suggested that Robert Waite, the author of a recent article in
Libraries & Culture on the repatriation of Jewish cultural property after
World War II, might be a possible speaker. Ben will contact Don Davis
regarding the possibility.
- The group decided to pursue Andras Reidlmayer as a possible speaker.
- B. Fundraising
- Mugs:
- Ben will take the mugs to SAA conference in August.
- The group discussed the tax law and the possibility of offering
a membership to mug purchasers. It was decided that we will not offer
a membership, and will pay taxes on our mug sales next year.
- Dixie will be the mug contact. Her address will be online, and requests
will go directly to her. She will receive a supply of boxes and ship
from her home. Dixie will include a receipt/invoice with the mug.
- C. Giveaways
- Will be discussed at the next meeting. Everyone should go to branders.com
and check out the possibilities.
- D. Publicity
- Ben will email the HRC newsletter picture to the list and find out how
the HRC got permission to use it.
- The group decided to come up with a new image for the SAA chapter. Everyone
should try to think of an image that represents "Texas Archives."
- E. Clinic
- Traci has confirmed October 12th from 10-4 at the Austin History Center.
- Traci will get pamphlets and catalogs to have on hand at the clinic.
II. Membership process
- The group decided that all membership applications will be directed or forwarded
to Traci and she will forward the membership information on to Ben. Traci
will then send the national SAA chapter the membership money.
- We will have membership applications on hand at the orientation and potluck.
III. Additional discussion
- Dixie and Trish will maintain the SAA bulletin board in the hall.
- In two weeks we should have information on the potluck on the website.
Meeting adjourned at 6:15pm.
