Present: Molly Wheeler, Stephen Naron, Ben Stone, Trish Nugent, Erin Lawrimore, Addy Sonder, Traci Drummond, Dixie Owens, Dr. David B. Gracy II

I. Meeting called to order by Molly Wheeler, President, at 3:00pm

II. Archives Week: Theme

Dr. Gracy suggested that we develop a theme for archives week, keeping in mind that the event is meant to attract the public, not just serve the archives community. Steven suggested "Archives Under Attack" as a theme, noting that it could encompass several issues such as preservation and recent initiatives that hinder the use of the records of government officials. There was much discussion on various aspects that could fall under such as theme. The group then discussed how to represent the theme visually.

III. Archives Week: Scope

There was debate among the group as to the feasibility of various numbers of events. Dr. Gracy suggested that perhaps two speakers should be the maximum. Some noted that last years Archives week featured four speakers, which Dr. Gracy felt was too many. A possible compromise of three speakers was discussed.

IV. Archives Week: Dates

It was decided that the last two weeks of October (October 20 - November 2) be set-aside for possible Archives week dates. It was also suggested that the clinic at the Austin History Center be held October 19.

V. Archives Week: Assignments

It was decided by the group to adopt "Archives Under Attack" as the working title for Archives Week. Two elements of the theme were identified for further exploration: Accountability and Archives & War. Members of the group volunteered to undertake various tasks in order to prepare for archives week. It was decided that:

• Molly and Erin will conduct the public relations and serve as liaisons to the media. Molly will look into the "give-aways."
• Ben and Stephen will investigate the theme of Accountability
• Trish and Addy will investigate Archives & War
• Molly will also investigate the preservation aspect of the theme
• Dixie and Traci will coordinate the Austin History Center Clinic
• Stephen offered web assistance
• Addy will look into establishing a listserv for the board

VI. Meeting adjourned at 3:50 pm
