2003-2004 Past Events and Activities:

SAA is headed to San Antonio April 9!

On Friday, April 9th, we will be visiting three archives in San Antonio. The iternerary for the day is as follows:

 

Leave at 8:30 from the alley behind the Sanchez building

10:30 Tour of the Institute of Texan Cultures

After the first tour, we will eat lunch and take a brief visit of the Alamo.

1:30 Tour of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas Library and Archives

3:00 Tour of the SBC archives

 

SAA is headed to Mexico April 23-25th!

For anyone interested, we will be down there visiting at least three archives on this side, and three in Mexico. We will also be sampling some of the best food the border has to offer. View the tentative itinerary.

 

The Mugs have arrived. They are $7.00 ($6.00 to members of SAA) They will be offered for sale in the Sanchez Building at various times during the week of September 29 through October 3, or you can contact  your friendly SAA Board Member.

 

                       

 

Tour of HRC's new exhibit, "Make it New": The Rise of Modernism.

Friday, February 13, 2004 at 12:00pm.

A wide range of modernist works are on display, including items from artists like Pablo Picasso, Gertrude Stein, James Joyce, T.S. Eliot, Charles Baudelaire and others.

The tour will last 45 minutes, but those who wish to stay longer are welcome. Invite your other friends to join us too!

SAA Spring Potluck

Come and enjoy a myriad variety of dishes provided by...you! Talk about archives and all things archival with other like minded individuals! Learn just what exactly the Archival program entails from students who have experienced it.

The Spring potluck will be at Dr. Gracy's house.

The sign-up sheet for dishes will be on the SAA Bulletin Board located on the 4th floor of the Sanchez building, near the IT lab.

Everyone is welcome and we hope to see as many new faces as familiar ones.

Capitol Tour

Dr. Gracy is offering a tour of the Texas State Capital. All SAA student members are welcome. The tour is scheduled for Sunday, October 12, 2003, at 3 pm. Please meet on the south steps of the Capital building. 

Who Controls the past: Archives and the Political Process
Archives Week, October 27- November 1, 2003
This year's activities will focus on the intricate relationships between archives and politics. The Watergate Papers, Forgery, and Iraq will be explored in this week long celebration. Similar to past years, we will hold an archives clinic at the Austin History Center to share advice on archival preservation to members of the public.
