Besides his role as adjunct faculty for Geographic Information Systems in the Information School, Dr. David Arctur is a Research Fellow in the Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas at Austin. He also holds a staff position as Research/Academic Advocate for the Open Geospatial Consortium. His focus of interest is in interoperability and preservation of complex, heterogeneous data and models for geosciences research. Dr. Arctur is a member of AAAS, ACM, GSA, Senior Member of IEEE, and a Life Member of AGU and EGU.
Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Florida; BS and MS degrees in the field of electrical power systems from the University of Texas at Austin
