Class of 2016
As a user interface designer, I worked in UX and creative industry for more than 2 years, I wanted to pursue deeper understanding about user experience and HCI, so I decided to apply for iSchool. After I joined iSchool, I also devoted myself in community services to get involved with the city and local UX industry, such as working as volunteer in SXSW 2015 and Enterprise UX 2015.
I believe that courses in iSchool are very practical, which pave way for students’ professional career. In my area of study, many courses not only give students theoretical and methodology knowledge of UX design/research, but also lead students to real UX projects that can be very helpful for them to apply for internship or full time work. Such courses include usability, information architecture, interaction design, design thinking and so on.
I think iSchool also has a very strong faculty base, alumni connection and career services. For example, Dr. Bias invited lots of alumni to share their academic and work experience at the usability class last semester. Also, we have many adjunct professors such as Amber Lindholm and Fleming Seay from the industry, both professors pass on their industry experience to help student shape well rounded knowledge and skills. In addition, I really like the career service here, from which Tara and Holly try their best to guide students toward successful career through services such as speed interview, info session, workshop and so forth.
