Doctoral candidate Sarah Buchanan won first place at the 2016 ALISE Conference

iSchool doctoral candidate, Sarah Buchanan, won first place at the 2016 ALISE Conference in the Jean Tague-Sutcliffe Doctoral Student Research Poster Competition. This competition was established in 1997 in memory of Jean Tague-Sutcliffe, professor and former dean of the Graduate School of Library and Information Science (now the Faculty of Information and Media Studies) at the University of Western Ontario, and is sponsored by ALISE.

Doc student has paper accepted at CHI Conference

Jane Gruning, PhD student in the iSchool has her co-authored paper, "Things We Own Together: Sharing Possessions at Home,” accepted at the annual ACM SIG CHI conference, the most prestigious conference for research in human-computer interaction, with acceptance rates usually running around 25%.

Jennifer Richey MSIS. PHD Wins Award

Jennifer Richey, a UT grad with 2 degrees from the iSchool has been named Outstanding Teacher for the College of Professional Education for 2015 at TWU. She was an IMLS Fellow while a PhD student in the Youth, Community, Libraries grant. One of the goals for the grant was to educate faculty to to education future school and youth librarians. Congratulations Jennifer and thanks again to all those who worked with her while she earned her degrees here.

Hyun Joon Jung Receives 2015 Samsung Human-Tech Paper Award

Hyun Joon Jung, a PhD candidate in the School of Information (iSchool) at the University of Texas at Austin, was awarded a distinguished Silver Prize in Computer Science at the 21st Annual International Samsung Human-Tech Paper Awards, held on February 11, 2015.

AERI 2013: iSchool Hosts Major National Archiving Conference

In mid-June, the iSchool hosted AERI, a major national conference for doctoral students in archival studies and Ph.D.'s who are beginning professional careers in archiving. Drawing over one hundred archives doctoral candidates and archival educators, the Archival Education and Research Institute conference featured five days of presentations, workshops and field trips. While most student participants are from the U.S., others came from as far away as New Zealand, Canada, China, Korea, and Australia.

iSchool Hosts Major National Archiving Conference

The University of Texas at Austin's School of Information (iSchool) will be hosting a major national conference for doctoral students in archival studies and Ph.D.'s who are beginning professional careers in archiving.

The Archival Education and Research Institute (AERI) conference is taking place in Austin from June 17-21 and will draw around 50 archives doctoral candidates and 45 archival educators for five days filled with presentations, workshops and field trips.
