Giving back during iGive campaign

Nearly 80 School of Information students—one-third of the iSchool's enrollment—gave back to their communities during the iSchool’s seventh annual iGive Campaign in fall 2016.

Students volunteered more than 3,600 hours for nonprofit groups, museums, schools and other worthy causes like the Inside Books Project, the Austin History Center and Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas.

Nicole Oglesby created her own theater company called The Heartland Theatre Collective. She produced a play at the Vortex, an artist-owned venue on Manor Road, which raised more than $2,000 and received two positive reviews.

Courtney Christner was one of several students who volunteered at the Austin Archives Bazaar. “This was an amazing opportunity to meet archivists in the Central Texas area,” she said. “I am absolutely thrilled to have been a part of it.”
