Faculty Grand Challenges Panel
11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Zoom link provided in the details

Our faculty are passionate scholars exploring solutions to some of our society’s grand challenges. This panel event spotlights some iSchool faculty's work in the spaces of misinformation, information seeking, user experience, and librarianship. Students will learn about how faculty ask questions, share knowledge and move beyond academic barriers to better address ‘wicked problems’ in these areas. This event is moderated by Dr. Soo Young Rieh, Associate Dean for Education and Professor, and panelists include:

  • Dr. Ahmer Arif, Assistant Professor - Co-designing for Trust: Addressing Misinformation with Communities
  • Dr. Yan Zhang, Associate Professor - Enhance Access to and Sensemaking of High-Quality Information
  • Dr. Jacek Gwizdka, Associate Professor - Understanding Information Searchers without Asking Them
  • Dr. David Lankes, Virginia and Charles Bowden Professor of Librarianship - World Domination Through Librarianship

Each panelist will present their work for approximately 10 minutes, followed by an open Q&A session. Students attending the event will learn about the opportunities they have to help change the world.
