Description:
Introduction to the issues and trends in digitization initiatives and management, including project planning and management, asset delivery and management systems, interoperability and the importance of standards, copyright and other legal issues, metadata basics digital preservation, and specific digitization processes for documents, images, video, and sound. Three lecture hours a week for one semester.

digitization exists within the context of a digital asset
management initiative. The class examines, in both non-profit
and for profit organizations, the issues and trends in
digitization and asset management, including project planning and
management, asset delivery and management systems,
interoperability and the importance of standards, copyright and
other legal issues, metadata basics, and digital preservation.
Students will work in both proprietary and open source DAMs, and
will learn specific digitization processes for documents, images,
sound, and video. Three lecture hours a week for one semester.
