Year 3 of your Stepping Up Program
Provide resources for students' job search
- At the beginning of the academic year, have the career services director of your LIS program make regular contact with your students to help prepare them for the job-seeking process.
- Post job-hunting resources on your website.
Review budget
Review your budget. If your have remaining funding, prepare for another round of recruiting. If your funding allows, select well-prepared students to attend conferences. By attending conferences, students will be able to hear diverse speakers, attend discussion forums, and network with future colleagues.
- Have students interested in attending an upcoming library conference submit a 1-page essay detailing why they would benefit from the conference. Based on their responses, with priority for those nearing graduation or who have recently graduated, choose who you can take.
- Informally discuss with students programs of interest.
- Organize post-program discussions led by the grant coordinator, who acts as an on-site mentor.
