Laura Ingalls Wilder

My longtime fascination with Laura Ingalls Wilder and all things Little House escalated in the summer of 2007 when I visited her Mansfield, Missouri homestead. This visit made clear for me the many ways in which Wilder's life and legacy raise questions related both concretely and abstractly to conservation and preservation concerns. That fall, I researched and wrote about the issues sparked by my visit to Mansfield; the result is available below. Last summer, I traveled to Wilder sites in De Smet, South Dakota and Walnut Grove, Minnesota. Trip journal and slide show will be posted soon.

Protective Enclosures

In the fall of 2007 I researched the history and conservation issues surrounding protective enclosures, and also wrote a shorter paper exploring variations on the 4-flap wrapper.
