Dean Dillon writes, "We have a guest visiting the school for two weeks starting next week: Prof. m. c. schreafel, whom many of you may remember from her colloquium here over a year back. I asked her to put a brief note together expressing her interests (see below) but the main thing is for you to have a chance to connect with her and hopefully engage in some fruitful exchanges. She is currently a faculty member with the IAM group in the ECS Dept at Univ. of Southampton, that same dept which is partnering with MIT on Web Science, and she was formerly a faculty member at Toronto. She will be housed for the visit in 445 and could be a great resource for classes, doc students, and various talks on her work. Please note - this is not a recruitment visit, she is visiting while on sabbatical and is keen to engage with many of you. Please make her feel welcome - I've done this myself in other places and its easy for a stranger to feel lost. She is a bright, engaging scholar and I am sure you will enjoy meeting her, but don't sit back and wait to engage." For more information, please contact Dean Dillon. ADDED EVENT. The links on the left sidebar provide access to other information that you might find useful. If you are a new Ph.D. student, we suggest you read the orientation page (link on the left sidebar) for things you need or might like to know. More senior Ph.D. students might also want to review this page occasionally to see how things have changed. Additions and changes to the current week or month as well as special announcements are noted in red (or other appropriate color) . Significant future calendar events are posted as they are received and time permits. Suggested additions, calendar entries, corrections, and other comments to any of the Webpages on this Website are always appreciated. Email me or grab me in the hall.
