ABOUT ME
Aloha! This site serves as the central location for my scholastic activities in the School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin.
I am a graduate student pursuing my PhD with a focus on affective computing, emotional design, human-computer interaction (HCI), and digital libraries. Before I started working on my PhD, I was an Executive Technical Director at cause & f(x) pictures llc, a visual effects studio based in Honolulu, Hawai'i. Before that, I was a Product Engineer at Tech Projects LLC, a hi-tech contractor based in Maui. (Check out my CV for the rest of the story.)
My background includes three undergraduate degrees (B.S. Computer Science, B.S. Mathematics, B.A. English, Philosophy minor), extensive print and web design work (as an independent contractor, an employee, and not-for-profit), strong programming skills, strong writing and composition skills, nunchuck skills, bowhunting skills, and computer hacking skills (thanks for the lessons, ND!).
I while away my non-academic hours training in Shotokan Karate at the dojo here on campus, swimming, taking my dog out to play, and enjoying the odd video game, book, or movie. I'm an avid bicyclist, and my trusty fixed gear is my preferred mode of transportation.
I'd like to thank you for visiting, and I sincerely hope you enjoy your stay. Mahalo!
