The Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988 (IGRA) legalized gambling on American Indian land.   The National Indian Gaming Commission, a federal agency, oversees gaming.  You will see from the sources below that gaming is a controversial topic, with supporters and detractors.  There are many journal articles, books, studies and websites devoted to this topic.  I picked a sampling of the many resources that are available, and hope that you can use them as a starting point.
