Installing, Configuring, and Using Anti-VirusSoftwareThe rapid proliferation of computer viruses make it imperative that information professionals be well-versed in the use of antivirus software. UT-Austin makes several useful software utilities available through BevoWare Software, which includes excellent antivirus programs, viz., McAfee VirusScan for Windows, and Virex for Macintosh.. You should use either the Basics for Windows set of software or the Basics for Macintosh set, as needed for your system. (The BevoWare Website notes that: "Current UT students can download BevoWare components, updates and upgrades online for free. The CD version of BevoWare is also available to current students as an optional $5 purchase from the Campus Computer Store.") For the sake of your fellow students, TA's, and professors, INSTALL AND USE THIS PROGRAM! Users of Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express are especially susceptible to email viruses. |
