PowerPoint to HTML

The process of saving a PowerPoint presentation in HTML is very similar to that used in Microsoft Word. Essentially, once a presentation has been completed, users can use the "Save As" option or "Save as Web Page" command to save the file as a .htm or .html file.

Once one of these options has been selected, a dialog box appears.

At this point, you can name the main html file, select the local location of the saved file, and change the title of the main web page by selecting the "Change Title" box.

Once the save command is selected, the main file is created, along with another directory called [filename]_files. Note the example in the image above- Monkeys.htm and the Monkeys_files folder. Both the file and the folder must be placed in a publicly accessible directory on a web server before the can be viewed. For suggestions on how to do this, see "Uploading PowerPoint Files to the Web."
