I'm working on a consulting project with MAIN.org/Telecommunity Resource Center guru Gene Crick and developing a
model for community information resource support at public IT access sites in Bastrop.
-
I am teaching a section of ~50 undergraduates in one of the iSchool's undergraduate courses,
Information In Cyberspace. We redsigned the content and
website for the Fall 05 Semester, and have 200+ total students again.
- I am conducting a research assignment on student multimedia preferences with Dr. Chen. We submitted a poster proposal
for ASIS&T 06, which is somewhat convieniently in Austin.
- I launched SOMESOUNDS.ORG, a blog devoted to collaborating with friends on "field recordings, sound art, experimental audio, soundscapes, and things approaching music."
- I am building the Texas Storysearch website, through which young creative writers compete for a full publishing package from BookPros Literary Agency, benefiting the Make-A-Wish foundation.
Recently
- I created a full-length album of ambient music between July and September 2005.
- Working with Drs. Pat and Dick Richardson from the UT Section of Integrative
Biology and Dr. Oliver Chen, I built a
framework for a resource to present their video Soil Critters: Life
in the Great Underneath online for K-12 teachers and students.
- I took part the 2005 STS Graduate Student Consulting Workshop
and completed a consulting engagement with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.
-
Sam Burns and I worked a
project evaluating the usability of a collection understanding tool developed
by Texas A&M Computer Science
Graduate Student Michelle Chang and Dr. John Leggett, Director of A&M's Center
for the Study of Digital Libraries. Based on Andruid
Kearne's Collage Machine, the tool provides information visualization to
enable browsing, ambient learning, and context in large-scale image collections.
- I made a series of analog and digital objects, beginning with a wooden model and culminating in a 5 minute video.
View project documentation.

Alex Chung and I recently worked with Dr. Randolph Bias's studying the usability of Microsoft ClearType
for Programmers. Resulted in a

-
For my Capstone Experience, I worked with Handwire on a usability and information architecture project dealing with Shell's global HR intranet.
