Ysleta del Sur site visits:
March 2004

We arrived at the Library/Education Center just as the pre-school children were heading home. Although the kids could tell right away that we were visitors, they were interested in chatting with us. So, we said our hello's and good-bye's to the children and went into the library, where we experienced even more warm welcomes! We met with Lettie Rodriguez and Elena Madrid, and were given a tour of the library/education center, which is a magnificent place to learn! After getting busy on work we needed to do, I was treated to a tour of the new and old reservation. Upon returning from the tour, the kids from the After-School Reading program were at the library. We made arts and crafts with the kids and read books together. Our trip was not only fun, but a great experience too!

May 2004

I had an opportunity to head back to the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo Library/Education Center on a trip I made to New Mexico. This time, I was able to help the librarians catalog and process their new books. I was also able to interact with the kids again, although there were less at the library since school had just let out. Again, I had a great time meeting with the librarians Lettie Rodriguez and Elena Madrid.
