Shared knowledge transforms job titles

A thought on the article:
Understanding the Benefit and Costs of Communities of Practice
(Authors: Millen, Fontaine, Muller)

In reference to community costs of participation, the article identifies 11 supporting roles w/in the community. However, the "learn from others" success that is identified in the beginning of the article indicates that many of these roles would meld as communication becomes more fluid and an open exchange of experience and ideas develops throughout working groups. Not to say that these roles aren't important or absolutely valuable individually, but they seem to evolve in this organic team thinking organizational style. No longer are they set in stone, sign-on-the-door ... go to X to get Y answered ... style of business that is traditional to the Western market. Now it seems that business markets (at least in the tech sector) are seeing the strength of bringing minds within the community together so that they become stronger through a woven mesh of ideas and recognized, interconnected relationships throughout the community.
