Dan Gruen is obviously working on even more new ways to re-invent email. Take a look at some of his publications.
Posted by donturn at February 19, 2003 05:35 PMThe article by Dan Gruen and Steven Rohall, "ReMail: A Reinvented Email Prototype", had some ideas I thought were really interesting for using email in personal information management. I am particularly intrigued by the way they describe gathering messages into a thread, and annotating email. I think both of these devices would help to make email more functional for the types of applications we discussed last week.
I also checked out the article "Collaborating Within - Not Through - Email", by Gruen and Michael Muller. I wish the authors had included more ethnographic detail in the article. The short summaries they provide seem to just skim over the "reinvention" of email by collaboration.
