TECHNOLOGY

As the IT liaison between PCS and the School of Information and a member of the IT lab staff team, I am responsible for the introduction and development of technology tools that assist students.

PCS is housed in a separate building from the iSchool, which has in the past proved challenging as we do not have easy access to the iSchool's well outfitted computer lab. Over the course of my first year as the IT liaison, I helped PCS acquire enough computers to sustain student use and software to fit the needs of today's technology-savvy preservation or conservation studies student. I am available to assist students with technology questions or projects, especially the sometimes daunting design and authoring of the online treatment portfolio.

The other half of my appointment is as an IT lab staffer in the iSchool's computer lab. My chief responsiblity is to create technology tutorials for both iSchool students and for the undergraduate class Information in Cyberspace. These tutorials have three components to assist a variety of learning styles: students can watch a video, follow along on the website, or print/download a handout for later use.
