Walter Geology Library -- Circulating Thesis and Dissertation Collection
In Fall 2002, I conducted a condition assessment for the Walter Geology Library collection of 2000+ thesis and dissertations which dated from 1930 to present. These serve not only as an important resource to geology students but an interesting assortment of thesis and disseration binding styles throughout the past century. This collection was a particularly interesting case study for preservation given the variety of media (photographs, maps, drawings, and facsimiles) inserted into many of the bindings. Conducted for INF 392G, Preservation Management. |
National Preserve of Tauric Cheresonesos (Ukraine)
In the summer of 2003, I ventured to Sevastopol, Ukraine to work in the Library and Archives of Chersonesos - an archaeological site that was first an ancient Greek, then a Roman, and finally a Byzantine city. Accompanying the Institute of Classical Archaeology from the University of Texas, I conducted a general preservation needs assessment which was later translated into a sucessful grant proposal to gain much needed equipment, supplies, training, and staffing for the extensive preservation needs of the Library and Archives. |
