LawDIALeR

For this project, I worked with Dr. Bert Dempsey, Assistant Professor at the School of Information Science at UNC, to provide user surveys and session tracking data for the Law DIALeR legal research tool. The DIALeR, Directory of Internet-Accessible Legal Resources, is a WWW tool providing a topic-oriented interface to a WWW database of legal resources.

Dr. Dempsey and I developed both pre- and post-surveys that users from the UNC, Duke, and Wake Forest campuses were asked to take when using the DIALeR tool.  For users that agreed to participate, we tracked the individual navigational tree nodes that were selected and the specific Web pages (within the DIALeR Web site) that were selected during the user session.

The surveys and session-tracking data were created using Active Server Pages, VBScript, and JavaScript.  All data collected is stored in an SQL Server database.
