The theme for A Gathering of Readers Art Contest is Stories and Culture. Each student's entry should relate to this theme. Some ideas are a picture of a student reading a book about her culture or a student telling a story to members of his family.

Entries will be judged by representatives of the "If I Can Read, I Can Do Anything" program. The age divisions for the contest are as follows: 7 years and younger, 8-10 years, and 11+.

Contest Rules

1. Entries should be one dimensional on standard 8.5 x 11 or A15 paper.

2. Entries should follow the themes listed above.

3. Students should write their name, age, teacher, and school on the back of their artwork.

4. All of the entries from each school should be sent together to:

5. Entries must be postmarked by April 27, 2005.

6. Artwork will not be returned.

7. By entering the contest, contestants agree to have their work posted online.

8. The winning art will be posted by May 31, 2005 [tentative].
