  • Conducted a preservation survey of a collection of materials (including parchment, paper, and composite items) housed in storage and made recommendations for the treatment and housing of the collection
  • Gave two identical workshops on basic mending, tape removal, matting, and storage

Scanning Technician, Digital Library Services Division

  • Assisted in the testing of new scanning and correcting software that utilized an in-program database to manage high volume scanning.
  • Scanned materials for various clients using a variety of scanning equipment according to client specifications. Equipment included the Digibook overhead scanner, Epson flatbed scanners, Nikon slide feeders, and the Xerox Digipath feed scanner.
  • Quality controlled and color corrected images according to client specifications using Adobe Photoshop.

  • Assisted in re-housing the Roy Thomas collection of rolled architectural drawings dating from the first half of the 20 th century. Removed staples and examined items for insect damage or mold before re-housing the drawings in un-buffered paper wrappers.
  • Assigned catalog numbers to re-housed items according to Alexander archive specifications and created new catalog entries using FileMaker Pro.

Preservation Volunteer, The Harry Ransom Center
