EDIBLE BOOK FESTIVAL 2012
Update: 4/7/12
We were written up in The Alcalde!
Thank you to everyone who came to the festival this year on April 1st! At our new location, the Perry-Castañeda Library on the University of Texas at Austin campus, we had 17 fabulous entries and hundreds of visitors stop by. To see who won, check out the list at the bottom of this page.
Local book enthusiasts and food lovers joined together for an afternoon of fun, edible books. The School of Information's student band, The Banned Books, performed a rockin' set throughout the afternoon. Amy's Ice Cream was on hand to sell literary-themed ice cream, with profits going to the Inside Books Project. T-Shirts to commemorate the event were available for $5 and bumper stickers for $1. If you are still interested in purchasing these items, please contact us at the email below.
ENTRY INFORMATION, VOTING, AND AWARDS
Entry Information
Your entry of edible art must have something to do with books as shapes and/or content, or be based on a book title, a book cover, or book character(s). And, yes, it must be edible! There are sandwich books, leaves of seaweed, cakes, spam-books, hot-dog enteries, and many more! Anything you can cook up that is book related is welcome. Please see our Photo Album if you would like some inspiration.
Anyone from the Austin community is welcome to enter and attend the Edible Book Festival. To be eligible for awards, please make sure your creation is at the Perry-Castañeda Library plaza by 1:30pm on the day of the Festival. We will supply tables, but you will need to provide a base if your entry needs to be further elevated in any way.
Voting
Voting will begin at 1:30pm, and will end by 3:30pm. All attendees are welcome to vote for their favorite edible books! Awards will be announced directly afterward. Once voting is done, forks will be provided. :)
