Project Goal

Build institutional capacity to educate digital librarians by developing future faculty and library managers and through student recruitment into a program that offers a three-tiered technology-centric digitization curriculum that documents and researches policy and issues related to digital libraries.

Objectives:

Objective 1. Develop and evaluate curriculum to provide for a specialization in digital library studies that educates and trains skilled and knowledgeable librarians for a variety of digital library related careers.

Objective 2. Create a teaching and digitization infrastructure that supports 3 tiers of instruction on digitization expertise.

Objective 3. Recruit, educate, and prepare School of Information students (five Master's and one PhD) who understand the fundamentals of building and managing digital collections.  (Tier 1)

Objective 4. Recruit and educate a group of digital library specialists, capable of planning, designing, and managing the full range of digital library initiatives. (Tier 2)

Objective 5. Initiate research and publications that track best practices, create models for preparing digital librarians, and lay the groundwork for further research in digitization education.  (Tier 3)
