Event #1: Fundraising Concert
Wed., Oct. 22, 7-10pm
ACL Studios in Communications Building B, 6th Floor (Map and Parking pdf)
Price: $12 at the door, open to the public
Three bands, Soulphonics, Year of the Bandit, and The Unbearables will perform for all to hear, and drinks will be provided. You can also view the concert poster (png file).
Event #2: Mayoral Proclamation
Thurs., Oct. 23, 5.30-6pm, during the City Council Meeting
Austin City Hall (301 W. 2nd St.)
Free and open to the public
Mayor Will Wynn will proclaim this Archives Week at the City Council Meeting, so come and support archives!
Continual event: Information Table
Mon., Oct 27 thru Fri, Oct. 30, 11am-1pm each day
West Mall near the Union

Part of this Archives Week is to answer the public's recurring question: "What are archives?" So have your elevator speeches ready and come spread the word about archives and Archives City Limits! We'll be handing out pamphlets about AW08 events and archives around town.
Event #3: "Gigs to Gigabytes: Creating Liquid Assets at a Rock and Roll Archives"

Kevin Shapiro, archivist for the band Phish, will talk about his experiences.
Event #4: "Jazz in the Stacks"
Tues., Oct 28, 6.30-8.30pm
The Mabee Ballroom (3rd floor), The Ragsdale Center, St. Edwards University
Free and open to the public
Edward N. Meyer and Michael Tarabulski will discuss the donation of a large LP collection to St. Edwards University Library, including discussion about the creator's vision in building a music collection, and consideration of its research value to the contemporary student. They will also discuss aspects of digitizing such a collection to promote access and afford audience time to visit the archives in the library following the lecture.
Event #5: "Texas Sings!: Documenting the Music of a Community"
Thurs., Oct. 30, 7-9pm
JGB 2.102 (Geology building)
Free and open to the public
Panelist, John Wheat of the Center for American History, Harold McMillan of DiverseArts, and Dr. Clay Shorkey & Geoff Willard of the Texas Music Museum will discuss how archives document music in different communities and how patrons use the material in their work.
Event #6: Archives Clinic
Sat., Nov. 1, 2-4pm
Austin History Center (810 Guadalupe St.)
Free and open to the public
The SAA-UT and Austin History Center host this clinic to advise people in preserving their personal and family possessions, including papers, photographs, audio and video recordings, and so much more!
