Every fall the Society of American Archivists, University of Texas at Austin Student Chapter, hosts Archives Week. A specific theme is chosen by members of the chapter, and speakers from all over the country, as well as local archivists, come to discuss their work. Usually, it is declared by Mayor's Proclomation, and ends with the Archives Clinic at the Austin History Center, which is a time for the public to come and learn about preserving their familial posessions.

Upcoming Archives Weeks:

Archives Week 2008 will take place October 27-November 1, and its theme this year is "Archives City Limits" with a focus on music archives. Events include a panel discussion with a "performance" from speakers, highlighting their collections and issues in the field; a keynote speaker; and as usual the Archives Clinic on Nov. 1st, held by the Austin History Center.

The board is currently talking to potential speakers, so if you have any suggestions or would like to help email us! And keep checking here and at the SAA-UT wiki for announcements.
