Bulgarian Library Project
http://cla-web.org/bulgaria.htm

In 1996 a partnership was created between the Colorado Library Association and the Bulgarian Library Association. There are currently seven partnerships between Colorado libraries and Bulgarian libraries. These partnerships focus on activities such as exchange of program ideas, exhibits, and cultural information of each respective area. Funding for the partnerships comes directly from each library budgeting for communication costs and purchase of books. In addition, there is an arrangement in place that allows for the Bulgarian library to ship it's native jewelry to the Colorado library. The Colorado library sells the jewelry to pay for the cost of shipping books to the Bulgarian library. Upcoming activities will include hosting a staff member of the Bulgarian library to visit their Colorado library partner.

Poets Way

The Boulder Public Library in Colorado dedicated their "Poets Way" walkway October 11, 2000. This walkway is composed of sandstone with the words of great poets engraved into them. The library hopes that this project will show the diversity of poetry and increase its appreciation. The ALA congratulated the Boulder Public Library for encouraging education, equity of access, and intellectual freedom through
this project.
