In my search for equity access or digital divide projects within the
state of Arizona, I found two projects which I will include below. The
first program is being conducted in a variety of ways at several libraries,
most of which are located within public libraries. This program was found
by doing a search on http://www.google.com with the key words of "public
libraries in Arizona and the digital divide." The second program
is at a university, so I'm not sure if it should be included in the project;
however, I will submit it as a possibility in case it can be used. This
second program was also found through a search on http://www.google.com;
however, the keywords for this search were "Arizona libraries and
digital divide efforts. Arizona Exemplary Programs 1. LFF Program: "Libraries for the Future is a national nonprofit organization," (http://www.lff.org/about/) which has several Arizona libraries conducting various types of eQUAL ACCESS programming. These programs are sponsored in part by Qwest Communications grants (http://www.lff.org/about/Arizona/qwest.html). A list of the participating libraries may be found at the following url: http://www.lff.org/about/arizona/access.html. 2. "Knowledge River, at the University of Arizona, is a center for the study of information resources and technology issues related to American Indians and Hispanics." This program attempts to study the digital divide among these two groups of people as well as provide programs and education. Also, Knowledge River is seeking people to help with their efforts (Tarin). The Website url for this program is: http://www.sir.arizona.edu/about/knowledge.html
