Then, use your mouse to highlight the text you want to be a link. Next go to the toolbar at the top of the window and click on the “link” button. This will open a new window – the link properties window. Type in the URL, then click O.K.
To make an internal link, such as a “back to top” link, you will
need to create what is called a named anchor.
The first step in this process is to place your cursor at the top of your page.
Next, go to the menu item Insert -> named anchor This will open a new window
where you can type in the name of the anchor. I suggest something simple like
“top”. Then click O.K. You will see a little yellow anchor icon
appear where your cursor was. This is the named anchor. The icon will not be
visible on the world wide web.
The next step is to link to the named anchor. Go down to the bottom of your
page ( you may need to hit the return key a few so that you make the page long
enough for this effect to work. Then type in “back to top” and highlight
the text with your mouse. Click on the “link” button on the toolbar
at the top of the window and in the Link Properties window that will open, click
on the drop down menu and select “#top” The “#” sign
indicates that it is a named anchor you are linking to. Then click O.K. The
link has been created.
To test your links, click on the “browse” icon in the toolbar at
the top of the window. First save your changes. This will allow you to preview
how your page will look on the web, but remember, it is not yet actually ON
the web.
