Now we've come to the last and most fun part of using your WebSpace account: Publishing a Web page online. To create a Web site using your server space on your WebSpace account, first thing you need to do is create a new directory, and the directory name needs to be "www." This will indicate that anything that goes in this file will be published online, so you need to name it "www." Hit Okay. So now we see that we have this directory and now we need to place our index.html page within that directory to create our first homepage for our Web site. To upload our html page directly into our directory, you can go into the www directory and then go to upload. Select our index.html, open, and "okay." Because the image that I want to have on my Web page is not on my desktop, it's already in my WebSpace account, I need to find my image that's in my picture file, select it...I will use the "move to" button to select my directory. So I'm moving it into my www directory, you'll see the change has been made here. Okay. You'll notice that this directory and the files within it, still have them as "not shared," so we need to share these files with the public. So, we'll simply go to the sharing menu, "change," say that the public can read my html files, and we want to apply this to all the subdirectories and files within my www directory. And say apply now. Okay, go back, we'll see that these files are now shared to the public. To look at your Web page online, your address will be http://webspace.utexas.edu/yourUTEID/www and this will take you directly to your index page.
