Working with Windows

FinderFinder is similar to Windows Explorer. To open Finder, click on its icon in the dock, usually located on the far left:
This should take you to the same window as the "Macintosh HD" icon, although it may have a different folder highlighted. In this case, mine has my username highlighted for quick access to my documents, pictures, etc...
The Finder window is an easy way to get an overview of what programs are installed on the computer. Click on the "Applications" folder on the far left and let's take a look at it. Notice that, like a Windows machine, the Mac's files are organized in a system of folders. Also, an icon represents every folder, file, and application. In the next section, we'll look more at navigating folders.
