Dashboard

Dashboard is a new addition to Mac OS X Tiger.   Click on the Dashboard icon in the Dock and a number of small programs will appear.

The most common programs are a clock, weather forecast, and calendar, although many others can be used.

Each program is called a "widget."   Click on the plus sign in the bottom left corner of the window while Dashboard is running to view all of your available widgets.

To place a widget on your dashboard, simply click on it and drag it to your preferred location on the desktop.   Click on the small X in the upper left corner of a widget to remove it from the dashboard.

Widgets are moveable and interactive; for example, click on the weather widget to view or hide a six-day forecast (note: you will need to be connected to the Internet for this to work).

To hide Dashboard, click on an area of the screen behind the widgets.

Hundreds of widgets for both business and recreational use are available from Apple and other creators.   Go to www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard to browse and download available widgets.
