Part 2: Routinely Changing Your PasswordEvery six months, an email will be sent to your School of Information email account asking you to change your password – if you’re not checking your School of Information email account, have it forwarded to an email account that you do check on a regular basis. For more information about forwarding your School of Information email account, check out the FAQs on the IT Lab website (http://www.ischool.utexas.edu/technology/tutorials/faq/index.html#Forward). In order to change your password, you will once again need to log in to your School of Information account using Terminal (see Part 1). At the prompt, type in “passwd.” You will be asked to enter your current password. Then the system will ask for a new password. If your password meets the system requirements, you will be asked to enter your new password one more time. Congratulations! You have successfully changed your password. Don’t forget your new password! |
