Texas Legacy Project

The School of Information, in collaboration with the Conservation History Association of Texas, hosts the Texas Legacy Project, a collection of video oral history interviews with Texas conservation pioneers. This archive provides the iSchool with high-quality digital video content that is used by students in a variety of classes to investigate topics such as video archiving, information architecture of online video repositories, accessibility of digital video, video captioning and information retrieval, and other issues.

We are currently testing the use of Glifos to provided indexed, synchronized access to a new video compilation piece created from the archive, entitled "Our Place In Nature," which examines the impact of ecotourism in Texas.

The Windows version of Glifos requires the use of Internet Explorer, with ActiveX enabled. The SMIL port of this piece is a work in progress, but will play on both the PC and Mac, with a variety of browsers configured to support RealPlayer.
