Using Your Images in Other Applications
You may be asking yourself: So now that I’ve organized all of my images, how do I make use of them in other programs? This all depends on the program and its compatibility with iPhoto.
iPhoto and other iLife Programs (iTunes, iMovie, iDVD)
As mentioned previously, music from iTunes can easily be imported into iPhoto and added to your slideshows. Similarly, iPhoto’s involvement with other members of the iLife suite enables images from your iPhoto library to be easily and directly imported into projects created with iMovie or iDVD. Please see the iMovie and iDVD tutorials for more information about adding still photos to your movie or DVD menu.
iPhoto and other Applications (PowerPoint, Dreamweaver, Photoshop)
For applications like Powerpoint and Dreamweaver, it is best to have copies of your images closely associated with the Powerpoint or Dreamweaver files themselves. iPhoto makes copies for you when you drag any of the images in your library or albums outside the iPhoto window. So, if you would like to add images to a Powerpoint presentation, it’s best to create a folder in which you store your Powerpoint file and all of the associated image, audio, or video files. Please consult Melanie Cofield’s Powerpoint tutorial to learn how to import these images into your presentation.
Similarly, with Dreamweaver , you should have an "images" folder within your public_html folder. Transfer the desired images from your library by clicking on the images and dragging them to your "images" folder. If you'd like, you can resize the images for the web by first selecting the photo or photos to be resized. Then select Share --> Export --> File Export. Set the new size and the destination folder for your resized images. Click on "Export".
If you would like to use Adobe Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, or a different program to edit your iPhoto images, follow these instructions:
1. Minimize the iPhoto library window. Check the dock (the lowest register of program icons on your monitor) for the icon of the image-editing program that you wish to use. If you are not sure which icon corresponds to which program, hover with your mouse over the different icons and the program name should be displayed above each icon.

If the icon of your choice is not displayed, find the application in the Finder menu at Go --> Applications --> Photoshop Elements/Adobe Photoshop or whatever. Drag this icon in the list to the dock.

2. Maximize the iPhoto library window. Select the image you would like to edit by clicking on it once. Locate the icon on the dock that corresponds to the image-editing program that you would like to use, and drag the image to this icon.
3. Your image should open in this image-editing program. Edit the image as you wish and then select File --> Save As. Rename the image, indicating that it has been edited, and save it to your desktop. To import the edited version of your image, drag the image from your desktop into your opened photo library.
