Using Images in Other Applications Transporting, Saving, and Printing

Creating an iPhoto LibraryThe basic organizational component of iPhoto is the photo library. You can create multiple photo libraries or, because they are capable of handling a large amount of diverse images, you can just stick with one. The library is where your collection of images is safely stored. Where you choose to save your photo library depends upon whether you are working at the lab or whether you are working on your own personal user account. Please see the part of the tutorial that describes the setting in which you are working. At the end of this section, there are instructions for closing and reopening the photo library.
3. Check that the firewire drive is properly connected to the computer – the firewire icon should appear on the desktop screen of the computer. 4. If you haven’t done so already, create a folder with your name on the drive: click on the firewire icon, select new folder, and title it with your name. For ease of file management and in order to provide quick access to your files, all files that you create in iPhoto, iMovie, and iTunes should be stored in this folder titled with your name.
6. Click on “Create Library…” and name the library "iPhoto Library _Your Name_".
Do this by naming your library in the “Save As” field and locating your folder on the firewire drive in the scroll down menu next to the “Where” field. Click on “Save” when finished. iPhoto will automatically open the library you just created. You have now created your own iPhoto Library from which you will import images to be scanned or images from a digital camera.
2. Click on “Create Library…”, title your library what you wish, and select where you would like to save it.
(iPhoto will create the album in your Pictures directory by default unless instructed to do otherwise.) Do this by naming your library in the “Save As” field and finding the desired location for saving in the scroll down menu next to the “Where” field. Select “Save” when finished. iPhoto will automatically open the library you just created. You have now created your own iPhoto Library from which you will import images to be scanned or images from a digital camera.
