Welcome to master's degree applicants
We welcome master's applicants of any academic background with an interest in becoming information professionals who are prepared to design effective information spaces, such as websites, applications, and software, on desktop or mobile platforms, using a user-centered approach. Three clusters of courses, based on the lifecycle of user-centered design, are designed for students who intend to pursue this concentration:
- Research: Understanding Research (INF 397C); Understanding and Serving Users (INF 382C); Organizing Information (INF 384C)
- Design: Information Architecture and Design (INF 385E); Human Computer Interaction (INF 385C); Digital Media Design (INF 385H)
- Evaluation: Usability (INF 385P); Advanced Usability (INF 385G)
Our master's curriculum is designed to help the emerging professional build a portfolio of applied work and gain real-world experience, via internships. Individual study, and a capstone experience.
