Title:Austin Kiddie Limits Songwriting Interactive Class    [ more details ]
Submitted:2003-11-06 00:00:00
When: Open
Genre:Youth
Salary:Negotiable
Desc:Create an interactive multimedia “basics of songwriting” class, using Flash (or Director or Camtasia, etc.) for use in the Austin Children’s Museum’s outreach program to the children in the Wired for Youth computer labs at the Austin Public Library.

The finished product would be a self-paced class where the kids learn about the elements of a song -- verse, chorus, bridge, etc., by clicking & listening to selections from current and classic songs. There would be very basic lessons on rhythm and melody and musical notation.

If time permits, the application would also include a tutorial on MusicMasterworks, the digital music composition software that ACM purchased for the Wired for Youth centers. If time further permits, the student could begin the process of obtaining permissions for the music used by the contributors to Austin Kiddie Limits Stage for a future edition of the application.

The student would need to research songwriting basics, find, download or rip and edit appropriate MP3 song files (which ACM would pay for), create the application, and test the class with Wired for Youth students.
