Desc:Pease Elementary School, the oldest continuously running public school in Texas, is looking for a webmaster to help update our current website and make it more technologically sound. We are a very unique school in AISD, the only all-transfer campus. We get an incredible mix of children from all over the Austin area. It is our hope that our website will become an avenue to communicate to students, parents and community members about the great things going on at Pease Elementary. This webmaster would also have the possibility of working with staff and students to make the website more student oriented.

This project will serve as the first step of a future project to make this information available online through the school district’s website or on CD-Rom.

Desc:This project will digitize and index data from the Austin I.S.D. school directories dating back from the 1920s as well as the defunct school district newsletter, The Messenger. People working on this project will work with AISD staff to develop the project plan, be trained in both the SIRSI Hyperion software and on the publication-quality scanner purchased for this project. They will track progress and completion of the project as well as monitor quality of images and indexing. This person will also help AISD staff prepare a plan for digitizing of additional AISD archival materials including board minutes, photo files and other district documents the team feels might be important.

Desc:This project will develop a policy statement and records retention procedures for a centralized and a school level archives for the Austin I.S.D. The policy statement will detail the commitment to the centralized archives and to the retention of significant records for the school level archives, provide a concise statement of the archives’ interests and goals, contain a brief history of the collection and a description of the current nature of the collection. The procedures will establish criteria and minimal expectations for each level of archives, specify who is responsible for the collection and maintenance, and suggest standards for conservation and organization. This project will develop Rules Governing Use of the archival collections, a Deed of Gifts, and a Researcher Registration Form.
