Desc:I will assist the Cedar Park Public Library with their Summer Reading Club, which is held from June 2 to July 28, 2003. I will be responsible for helping Jane Young, Programming Assistant, and Denise Bortolussi, Chilren's Librarian, with the Summer Reading Club's programs and statistical data. I will learn how to plan and implement a successful summer reading program for children, including setting up for performances, successfully handling large crowds of children, collecting attendee data, prize collection, and displays. Among other tasks, I will assist in retrieving and imputing the statistical data from the sign-up sheets for the summer reading club and from program attendance. I will assist weekly in helping record the schools represented, ages of attendees, and minutes read, which will be used to determine city funding needed for future programs and assist with the grant writing process.

Desc:A review of how public libraries are utilizing pathfinders and some recommendations on how CPL might use OCLC or other forms of the pathfinder concept are needed. Currently the CPL web-based catalog is limited to accessing only the library’s bibliographic database. Hot links to internet sites is only available if searching the library’s catalog from outside the library or from the library’s internet terminals. CPL has access to OCLC through the Texshare system and is not able to participate directly in its pathfinder system.
