Francis Miksa
|
Degrees:
A.B., 1960, English Literature, Wheaton College; D.B., 1965, Bethel Theological Seminary; A.M., 1970, and Ph.D., 1974, both in Library Science from the University of Chicago.
Bio:
Dr. Miksa worked as a librarian at Bethel College and at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary and joined the School of Information faculty in 1984 after serving on the faculty of Louisiana State University, Graduate School of Library and Information Science. He has twice received the Texas Excellence in Teaching Award. Dr. Miksa's research interests center on classification theory, the organization of materials for access, and the history of library and information science. He is the author of The Subject in the Dictionary Catalog from Cutter to the Present, The Development of Classification at the Library of Congress, and the editor of Charles Ami Cutter: Library Systematizer. He is a member of the Editorial Board of Libraries & Culture.
