Ellen Cunningham-Kruppa is Director of the School of Information's
William and Margaret Kilgarlin Center for Preservation of the
Cultural Record. She administers all activities associated with the
Center, teaches courses in preservation management and creation of
sustainable digital collections, and advises and mentors doctoral
students and students pursuing Certificates of Advanced Study in
preservation administration and conservation. She is responsible for
fundraising and grant writing in support of the Kilgarlin Center and
serves as principal investigator for grants from the National
Endowment for the Humanities and the Institute of Museum and Library
Services. Ellen is president of the Association of North American
Graduate Programs in Conservation.
From 1985 to 1987 Ellen was Project Archivist at The Johns Hopkins
University Peabody Institute. In August 1988 she was hired as the
first preservation officer for the University of Texas at Austin
General Libraries. In 1996 she became the first Digital Programs
Librarian for the General Libraries and played an active role in the
early development of the Library's digital library program.
