1970sCharles Dyer, '75, will receive the 2005 Marian Gould Gallagher Distinguished Service Award during the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) Annual Meeting held in July in San Antonio, Texas.1980sGene Hainer, ‘89, has been appointed deputy state librarian and director of the Colorado State Library.Shelley Leader, '82, was promoted to city librarian of Helen Hall Library in League City, Texas in December 2004. Barbara Mercer, '83, achieved a huge success when the Seton Medical Library at Austin’s Brackenridge Hospital held its grand opening on June 6, 2005. The library has a dual mission: (1) supporting the educational and clinical information needs of the Austin Medical Education Program’s residents, medical students, and faculty; and (2) serving the information needs of the Seton HealthCare Network’s medical, nursing, and clinical staffs. The closing of the traditional library of the Texas Medical Association in 2003 eliminated the library support critical to the accreditation of residency programs in Austin. Barbara’s efforts were recognized by the visitors who attended the grand opening and received an introduction to the library’s many services. Susan L. Morris, '81, is the librarian for the Texas Center for the Advancement of Literacy & Learning. The center provides materials to the teachers of adult literacy programs in Texas. 1990sMartha D. Arthos, '96, has accepted a position as the information technology staff manager/project leader in the Legal Systems department at Lear Corporation in Troy, Michigan.Susan Dognaux, '98, is the children's librarian at Iroquois Branch of Louisville Free Public Library in Louisville, Kentucky. Carla M. Ellard, '96, is an assistant curator at Wittliff Gallery of Southwestern & Mexican Photography at Albert B. Alkek Library, Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Nicholas Garofalo, '99, works for the Houston Public Library as the Southeast District Young Adult Services librarian. Elizabeth Haynes, (MLS) '70, (PhD) '99, received tenure and promotion at University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Linda K. Parker, '93, is currently the U.S. Department of Labor librarian and director of the Wirtz Labor Library in Washington, D.C. Gretchen Pruett, '98, works as the assistant director of the Georgetown Public Library in Georgetown, Texas. The Utah Library Association named Heather Reynolds (Wait), '98 as Librarian of the Year. She works as the youth services librarian for Park City, Utah. Lea Wade, '90, works as virtual reference librarian for tutor. com. Malia Watson, '97, is currently the technical services manager at Laredo Public Library in Laredo, Texas. 2000sJohn Aho, (MLIS) '97, (PhD) '02, works as the director of library and information systems at the Austin Graduate School of Theology in Austin, Texas.Hannah Fischer, '04, was the recipient of the 2004 Student of the Year award given by Beta Phi Mu, Beta Eta Chapter. Margaret Nugent, ’05 has been appointed as the new youth and adult programs librarian at the Westbank Library in Austin, Texas. Katherine Prentice, '04, has accepted the position of web liaison at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
